Oxidized Petrolatum is recommended for use as a rust preventative in the formulation of various protective compounds. With its non-staining characteristics, this product is ideally suited for formulations that call for a high level of rust protection. Oxidized Petrolatum provides exceptional rust prevention for compounds such as industrial lubricating oils, greases, hydraulic fluids, and slushing oils. Chemically oxidized petrolatums are mixtures of long-chained, branched and cyclic hydrocarbons, whose derivates include organic acids, oxi-acids and esters. The acids present in Oxidized Petrolatum can be neutralized with bivalent metal oxides to give end-products a high molecular weight, excellent water resistance, and first-rate corrosion protection.
